Music and Mary Exton!
At Mary Exton JMI School
we are proud of the music opportunities which we offer to our students.
These include recorder clubs, brass lessons, violin and cello lessons,
a year 3 and 4 choir and annual drama productions where years 5 and
6 take the leading roles.
All instrumental lessons take place once a week, taught either by members
of staff or by our visiting peripatetic teachers. We are very lucky
to have a violin peripatetic who also runs our school orchestra. All
of our musicians get a chance to play in at least one concert per year.
The aim of this website is to give you an insight into the kind of music
that goes on in our school. Here you can see pictures of the children
in action, read about upcoming events and listen to sound files of the
children playing. It is also intended to be a learning resource for
children starting to play the recorder, as you will find finger notation
charts and short pieces of music to try to play, in the recorder section.
