There
are 3 recorder groups - beginners, intermediate and advanced. Children
playing in the advanced recorder group play in assemblies 3-4 times
per week and the older pupils are given the chance to play some
of the different types of recorders like trebles and tenors. |

The recorder group is a valuable musical
resource when it comes to Harvest, Christmas and Easter, as they
accompany services at school. At the end of the year, all three
groups perform in a school music concert, which parents are welcome
to come along to. |

Descant |
|
|
Playing The Descant Recorder
The descant recorder is the most common type and the easiest
to learn to play with. The notes range from bottom C (middle C)
to a top A (with lots of practise!). To find out the notes on

You will also find a short tune to play once you have learned

Treble |
|

Playing the Treble Recorder
Once you have mastered the Descant recorder, you may wish to
move onto a different kind of recorder like the Treble. The notes
are played with different fingers on a Treble - this can be quite

Sopranino |

The Sopranino is the smallest recorder and is played in the same

Tenor |

Playing The Tenor Recorder
The Tenor is bigger than the Treble and some children with small
hands will not be able to cover the holes properly. It is played
with the same fingering as the Descant recorder. To see the notes
